Bıography
Prof. Dr. Orhan ÖZTURAN was born in Gaziantep in 1961. He completed his primary, middle, and high school education in Adana, graduating from Private Adana College in 1978. He completed the first three years of his medical training at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine and the following three years at Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine, graduating second in his class. Between 1984 and 1986, he completed his compulsory medical service in Suşehri, Sivas. He completed his residency at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Department of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) between 1986 and 1991, earning the title of "ENT Specialist". From 1991 to 1993, he worked as an ENT specialist at Adana SSK Hospital. Choosing an academic career, he joined Malatya İnönü University, where he became an Assistant Professor in 1993, an Associate Professor in 1995, and a Full Professor in 2001.
Prof. Dr. Orhan ÖZTURAN pursued significant training and research abroad: for 3 months in 1989 at the ENT departments of Sydney and Melbourne medical schools in Australia; for 15 months between 1994 and 1995 at the ENT Department of Baylor College of Medicine and The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas, USA; and for 3 months between 2000 and 2001 at the ENT Department of Chaim Sheba Medical Center, Tel Aviv University in Israel.
He served as the Chief of the ENT Clinic at Haseki Training and Research Hospital (Ministry of Health) between 2006 and 2010. During the same period, he also served as the ENT Clinical Director at Hisar Hospital.
Since October 2010, he has been serving as the Head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Bezmialem Vakıf University Faculty of Medicine. He has held and continues to hold various academic and administrative roles at Bezmialem Vakıf University.
He speaks fluent English. He has participated in numerous (225) national and international ENT conferences as both a speaker and an attendee. As of October 15, 2026, he has presented 73 papers at international conferences and 234 papers at national meetings. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed national and international journals, with 278 international and 84 national research publications. According to Google Scholar, his international publications have received 5,541 citations, with an h-index of 40 and an i10-index of 134.
Prof. Dr. Orhan ÖZTURAN continues his research, teaching, and clinical work at Bezmialem Vakıf University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Otorhinolaryngology.
